Patella Pain and Athletes: A Facebook Live Lunch and Learn

August 24, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

With the amount of wear and tear athletes’ knees go through during the fast-paced, highly physical game of soccer, it should come as no surprise that patella pain and knee injuries are extremely common on the soccer field.

Between ball handling, directional changes, quick stops and long periods of running, soccer players can never be too careful, especially if they have any existing misalignment or weakness of the kneecap and its supporting structures as this can increase the risk of pain and injury.

Now, studies show that women soccer players are more likely to experience knee pain and injuries than men. While the explanation for this is still being researched, we know there are clear structural, biomechanical and hormonal differences between women and men that contribute to an increased incidence of knee pain or injury in women.

To learn more, join us on Thursday, August 24th at 12:30 p.m. for a Facebook Live chat about patella pain, alignment and rehabilitation. Our own Dr. Camille Clinton, MD and Lake Washington Physical Therapy’s Ben Wobker, PT will lead an engaging discussion that you can watch from home, work or on the go by visiting Lake Washington PT’s Facebook page: facebook.com/LakeWashingtonPhysicalTherapy.
