Elbow Dislocation
Elbow dislocation usually results from a fall on the outstretched hand. It may be due to soft tissue disruption only (simple) or have an associated fracture (complex).
The stability of the elbow will dictate treatment. A stable elbow will be treated with early motion to prevent stiffness. Unstable elbows will require either immobilization or limited range of motion until the ligaments heal. Complex dislocations often require surgery to restore stability.
