Dr Wingert

Nathaniel Wingert, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. In addition, Dr. Wingert has an interest in the treatment of trauma, or fractures of various types, and the more complex joint replacing procedures such as second time or revision joint replacements.

A native of the Northwest, Dr. Wingert attended Garfield high school in Seattle, WA. A lifelong enthusiast for the outdoors, sports and exercise, Dr. Wingert understands the health benefits of an active lifestyle. From personal and professional experience, he can also appreciate the life altering effects of an injury or significant degenerative changes to a knee, hip, or other.

Dr. Wingert attended University of California – Berkeley, where he studied physics and graduated with honors. This scientific background gave him a starting point for a career in medicine and orthopedics specifically. He obtained his medical education at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, where he published numerous research articles in peer reviewed national journals and presented original work at national conferences. He completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction of the hip and knee with leading experts at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Before coming to ProOrtho, Dr. Wingert gained valuable experience working at the Kaiser Permanente Capitol Hill Campus for several years.

Dr. Wingert believes that a starting point in caring for patients is knowing them and listening to them as individuals. This can help guide the direction of treatment but also sets things off with a relationship of trust and understanding. Dr. Wingert feels that the most gratifying aspect of his job is seeing a person you’ve gotten to know during a difficult time in their life recover and regain previous function, become active again, and no longer beset by pain.

When not working, Dr. Wingert enjoys walking his dog Cody, reading, hiking, sailing, and spending time with his wife Casey and daughter Anna.
