“I have been hurting really bad for a little over 7 months due to L5-S1 spondyloisthesis. From day 1 after slipping off staircases, it has been worst excruciating pain I’ve ever felt. The pain radiates from my lower back through buttock, down right thigh and leg to toes. I could not straighten my upper torso to line up with my lower torso. I was hurting standing up, walking and lying down. My only relief came from seating on a dining chair with a cushion on it, but I was getting less and less relief as days went by. I have tried medication, acupuncture, and multiple epidural steroid injections, but none of them helped relieve the pain even for a minute. My last option was to have a surgery, and hardest question was choosing the best doctor to operate on me. After researching and reviewing many doctors, I have decided to see Dr. Edward Jung. This was my first surgery and I was getting really nervous. Dr. Jung tells me he is very conservative when it comes to surgery and he doesn’t operate unless there is absolutely nothing else can help me. Instead of suggesting me to have a surgery right away, he suggested doing a few other things. Unfortunately they did not work. We decided to have a fusion at L5-S1 and laminectomy at L2-L3. One day before surgery Dr. Jung calls me and suggests we have laminectomy at L4-L5 also. I was quite surprised when I got that call. I don’t think most doctors would look at x-ray or MRI a day before the surgery to see if surgery I am going to have is best one I can have. Surgery went really well, and I was discharged next day. Two months have passed since surgery and I started physical therapy. I am not hurting anymore and am doing great.”
